Coaching

Where does treatment end and coaching begin? Or, the reverse?

It might be helpful to think that treatment or therapy is about getting to the point of feeling good most of the time while coaching is about feeling better than good–moving toward greater and greater mastery of life’s challenges. One author wrote that therapy is about “recovery” and coaching is about “discovery.” That seems to sum things up pretty well.

In my work with people along all levels of the continuum from treatment to coaching, I can say that it’s generally pretty easy to draw a line between the two and often we cross the line when needed but always with the goal of increasing wellbeing and mastery.

Perhaps you’re interested in increasing your “emotional intelligence” to handle a new role at work or to figure out why relationships aren’t working out like you hope. Perhaps you’re interested in broadening your leadership style so that you can effectively lead a diverse group of people. These are goals that a coach can help you with.

Please contact me if you would like the help of a coach. I have extensive experience working with people trying to take big steps toward mastering life’s challenges.
